This Spring Break, more than 600 Lynwood Unified students sparked their curiosity, creativity and connection through hands-on activities and educational field trips offered through the District’s Expanded Learning Opportunities Program – LevelUp Lynwood – in partnership with Think Together.
From April 14-16, students in Transitional Kindergarten through grade 8 took part in enriching excursions to destinations such as Top Golf, Santa Ana Zoo, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, The Broad and the Aquarium of the Pacific, supporting student learning while creating lasting memories.
In addition to expanding students’ understanding of the arts, sciences and natural world, the Spring Session aligned with the goals of the LevelUp Lynwood initiative to support academic enrichment, improve attendance and inspire a lifelong love of exploration.
The Spring Session built on the success of the District’s Winter Session as well as the robust after-school intramural sports program.
Students in grades 4-8 engaged in team sports – including flag football, basketball and volleyball – with cheer squads growing across school sites to boost school spirit and engagement. The season culminated in a spirited tournament where Lynwood Unified students proudly claimed the championship title in a final game against Compton Unified.
LevelUp Lynwood is a vital part of the District’s efforts to extend learning beyond the traditional classroom through enrichment opportunities offered before and after school, as well as during summer and winter sessions. Through the program, students benefit from valuable experiences that promote academic achievement, encourage physical wellness and foster meaningful social connections.
